The Rainbow Shed is a free store/op shop, primarily providing clothing, but also accessories, hygiene products, books, toys, homeware and more for all ages!
The Rainbow Shed has mainly clothing and accessories (adults, kids babies) and hygiene products, but we also have kids and adults bedding, books and toys, and more.
There is an excessive amount of clothes and goods to go around — approximately 180,000 tonnes of clothing and textiles fill up landfills in NZ per year, the majority of which is fast fashion, which has immense diminishing effects on Papatuanuku, and the millions of workers in developing countries stripped of worker rights. Opting for our op shop/free store shares the excess that we already own, keeping our goods circulating through the community.
This service is accessible for anyone to use, although it is asked that ALL are mindful that they are not taking more than they need. We rely solely on donations. Clothing is always graciously accepted as long as they are in good condition, contact us to inquire about donating other goods, as it depends on space at the time.
The Rainbow Shed is open 10:00am to 4:00pm, Tuesday to Friday.
